Earring’s been gone for a couple of days. I’m not missing it. I think I just decided that it wasn’t me. Always seemed just a mite pretentious. Didn’t last long, I know, but it was a worthy experiment.

Got the Audi’s windshield replaced yesterday here at work. They came out in their van and had the old, cracked one out and the new one in in about two hours. $328 all told, but it has a lifetime warranty against leaks, and they even vacuumed out the interior and wiped off the dash for me. Money well spent, I think. The only hiccup was that an interior trim piece wasn’t reattached correctly, but I fixed that myself in about 30 seconds.
I need to buy some new clothes. New shoes/boots/something. And a sport coat. I’m a little tired of dressing like a college kid and I think, within reason, it’s time for my wardrobe to grow up a little bit. Shopping tonight, schedule permitting.
How exactly does a “college kid” dress?
That was phrased poorly. It was completely self-referential–meaning it’s me who’s been wearing more or less the same clothes since college (and before), and I think it’s time for something new, something a little bit classier than the standard polo or button-down shirt and khakis. I’m so unused to talking about clothes in any capacity that I muck it up when I do :)
We just got Cyrus some really nice pants at the Gap. (http://www.gap.com/asp/dept_index_all_paging.asp?wdid=1994) The wide-fit classic striped pants look *really* slick.
Also, the Marshall’s (?) in Durham (the one near where Chesapeake Bagels used to be, near Barnes and Noble off 15-501) has (had) a bunch of great button-down shirts with cool diagonal striped patterns and stuff. Of course, that was in August, but worth a try. They look great on tall, lanky guys (Cyrus = 6’2″ and 170 lbs).

Umm… I wasn’t offended. I was just wondering what you thought a college kid (or you as a college kid) dressed like. Try Banana Republic. They have nice, classy, more mature looking clothing… and if you’re willing to sift through sales items, they’ve also a lot of nice things for fairly cheap.
Now I want to go shopping. Badly.
Hmm. I can’t really see myself in a button-down shirt with a diagonal striped pattern on it, though I do fit the “lanky” moniker (6’4″ and ~190 lbs). I know exactly the store you’re talking about, in the New Hope Commons shopping center. I may swing by there.
I definitely need a woman’s opinion at some point during my shopping trip; this I know. I think I can buy individual articles halfway decently, but the whole concept of an “outfit” or “versatility” when it comes to clothing just goes way over my head. I guess we’ll see what happens. I tried to buy some new, dressier shoes on Monday night, an expedition which ended disastrously (I’m taking them back, if I can).
*sigh*
ohh oh pick me!! having dinner with Donna tonight near Briar creek so don’t know if I could meet up with you tonight but definatly would love to tell you what to buy.
