I’m coming out of a cold I’ve had for the past couple of days. It exposed an overlooked aspect of the essential “bachelorness” of the house–lack of tissue boxes. I stopped by the grocery store last night before our (excellent) Coffee Theology meeting and picked some up. Having to blow one’s nose with napkins and paper towels is the worst.
I’m eager to get back in the plane after last Friday. The sky was clear today, but my nose and head were not and it was quite windy. The next flight will be an easy dual flight with my instructor, reviewing recommendations made by Mr. Kelly on Monday. There will be much less pressure, just a shoring up of essential skills and an emphasis on developing a feel for the plane, something that doesn’t come as naturally to me as its more technical and procedural aspects. Less pressure = more fun.
Diane and I spent some time together after the meeting last night, chatting and then just walking around B&N and talking. I have to say it was the most natural, effortless thing in the world, and not just because it’s new and we’re still establishing a base of preferences and traits in each other. No, the conversation had the longer-wearing cadence to it, almost that of a couple who have been around each other for years yet whose minds are still engaged in sharing thoughts and observations with one another. We have loads of activities planned: going over to her house on Friday and cooking dinner, poetry readings, a trip to SciWorks with her and Luke, a Saturday picnic and hiking with both of them at a local state park, the symphony in Raleigh at the beginning of next month, a dinner with Jan and Larry (older couple) and the two-day training conference for The Truth Project in May. Among other things. And I never had to rack my brain to come with anything–all the events fell into place ahead of us. This speaks of a God-given favor on the relationship. I see purpose, and it bodes very well, I think.

It’s amazing the difference between a real tissue and “those other things”. Glad to hear that you are feeling better.
It’s wonderful to hear that you and DIane are doing so great. I have been out of the loop and just got caught up. That’s one of many disadvantages to being in different classes now. She’s such an awesome woman! Glad you two are hitting it off and things are falling into place. It’s so like God to confirm His blessings by having things (and people!) come together at the right time.
What about that license? When is it making an appearance?
