It certainly didn’t go badly, and it wasn’t spectacularly good either. All in all it felt like the pleasing neutral tone of a painting, a foundation on which to draw out the highlights and suppress the dark tones through judicious application of pigment. I very much hope subsequent dates will give the relationship more shape.
I’m finally relieved after having been mind-bendingly nervous about this since I asked her out on Wednesday. As I was still processing things, the nervousness didn’t immediately dissipate at the conclusion of the date but lasted throughout the rest of the day and into this morning. The situation was exacerbated by a very dark, brooding and bitter Glen Phillips concert in Asheville this past evening, something after which I just wanted all that is good and clean and pure and right. My aim for tomorrow is to completely decompress, spend some time alone with God and unwind this wound spring that is my mind.

Yes, actually. I hesitate to disclose any more because I’m one of those “don’t report anything until you have something to report” kind of people… And we’ve only been on one date. But I’m sure everything will be illuminated soon enough :)
