light the sky and hold on tight
the world is burning down

I hate moving. It’s not just the feeling of being uprooted that gets me, nevermind if I’m actually looking forward to the next place I’ll be–it’s just the sheer quantity of stuff I have to move. Especially at this point in my life, a period where I’ve been eschewing anything superfluous in preparation for another big step, the reaffirmation that yes, I do have a fair amount of stuff just grates on me with every box packed and placed in the bed of the truck. It’s situations like these that make want to just sell everything I own and go hike the Appalachian Trail for six months. But then I suppose I’d have to brush up on my orienteering and fire-making skills.

That is the biggest obstacle to picking up and moving, the thought of all the crap I’m going to have to organize and transport. Part of me wants to pare down to half, if not less, of what I have, I didn’t miss most of it when I was abroad.

  2. hahaha….when i first read this post this morning, i thought you said you hate morning, not moving.

As far as I’m concerned that’s the *only* thing moving is good for–the ability to pare down and throw away much of what you own. I haven’t done it all yet since up to this point I was just focused on getting out, but in the process of unpacking a lot of it is going to go.

Well, that too…at least the first few minutes of it.
