I am seriously cheesed off. It’s all an evil conspiracy (is there any other kind?).
We have a small George Foreman Grill at the apartment. We have cooked many tasty meals on it. About 3-4 months ago, it broke. It will not come on when plugged in. I am now trying to fix it. I fixed the toaster oven no problem; I fix my car on a weekly basis–I can fix this. And I had the problem narrowed down to an electrical component on the inside of the casing, this doodad:
As far as I can tell it’s some kind of thermostatic relay, which I should easily be able to find and order on digikey.com. But:
a. Its serial number is nonexistent in any database I can find, preventing me from ordering the correct part.
b. Searching the web with strings like “george foreman grill repair” or “foreman grill wiring diagram” turns up absolutely nothing of use except for message boards full of fellow would-be DIYers equally cheesed off about our mutual predicament.
I mean, come on. Anybody with a working knowledge of how to use a Phillips screwdriver and enough sense not to put their tongue in a wall socket could fix this. But no…they have to use esoteric little parts so you’ll have to break down and buy a whole new grill. Well not this time. I’m going to find out what this is and repair the thing. Dang it.

Hung out with David (back in town for Spring break) at the mall earlier–had a good time. I picked up a 7/8″ offset wrench so I can undo the nuts at the tops of the front struts tomorrow morning and finally replace the mounts. We went to B&N too, where I bought a copy of Sophie’s World (on Elyse’s recommendation), which looks terribly interesting, and Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, which I actually haven’t read yet but feel like I’m long overdue to.

why don’t u just buy another one, swap them out, and return it and say it just stopped working after a while, which is true. as an employee in the retail business, this advice is for legal reasons, “not condoned by (employer’s name) or any of its subsidiaries”.
