An Ode to the Pita

Published on May 6, 2002

O fairest, yummy pita
Whose crust is crunchy sweet
You are the best to eat-a
For snack and ‘licious treat

O lovely, super pita
To what shall I compare?
The greatest slab of meat-a
Your glory cannot share

O wonderful, O pita
Whether sauce tomatoey
Or hummus from the freeze-a
With you tasty they will be

O bestest, scrumptious pita
May you ever remain yummy
And your travels will complete-a
Their journeys in my tummy

O greatest, crispy pita
May you never fall beneath
We salute you and we greet-a
Your ‘rrival with our teeth

O best of foods, the pita
You ever will I munch
Standing or in seat-a
For breakfast, tea, or lunch

    whoa there

someone has spent just a little too much time with their pita…

but how can you be blamed? they are tricky little pockets of bready deliciousness aren’t they ;)

Yes indeed… I was even visualizing some interpretive choreography whilst writing this… ‘Twould make quite a production, don’t you think?

    the play of the pita

    wonderful ;)

perhaps I can include this in my own half-wit plays? (giving you full credit, of course)

Half-wit plays? Vas ist das? And of course, you can include in whatever you want to :o)

As a matter of fact, I was thinking of drawing up some illustrations, tweaking the poem a bit, and sending it to a publisher or something. Just something that’s dabbled across my mind. We’ll see.

well, erm, you could try to get it published… actually, if you drew out some really cool illustrations it would make a very cute lil book ;)
