Whitecaps last night as I was running… They were just breaking the surface of the water, though, as the wind wasn’t all that strong. I’m having to dodge heavy construction equipment these days, too. They’re digging up the beach, to what end I have no idea. I think they’re going to enlarge or pave the parking lot, or both. They’ve taken away all the semi-submerged beams from the shore, the ones that were preventing erosion at that end of the waterfront. I hope they’ll put something else in their place–they were such fun to tread over and explore, all the sea urchins and hermit crabs hidden in the crevices between the beams… Haven’t seen a dead jellyfish in a while… Perhaps they’re migratory?
Your runs always sound so much lovlier than mine. I sometimes run on the banks of the Mississippi, but more often than not, my route takes me through dirty streets and buildings.
Dead jellyfish and heavy construction equipment are lovely? :o) One of the main reasons I’m renting the apartment that I am is because the beach is just two blocks away… And sometimes I’m fortunate enough to get caught in a rainstorm :o)
I suppose those things are not so lovely, but the beach and the ocean would be enough to satiate me.
I hate the dirty-city environment, which is what I see a lot of.
I say come and visit for a while, but you have that silly no-days-off thing going on too, don’t you?
*sigh*
I’m sure you’ll be in Oregon or Washington soon enough, though, and I’ll move someplace like Detroit, and our positions will be reversed. You’re only spoiled for so long :o)
I haven’t been to FL in about 7 years, I liked the Gulf side better. I *am* thinking of relocating sometime soon. I have two things keeping me here:
Job ( may be replaceable )
Boy ( is he worth it?? don’t know )
Randomly up-and moving is always a little frightening, but I always feel a million times more alive in a new place.
I’ve heard a lot of people say they like the Gulf side better… I have yet to check it out. A co-worker of mine is into jetskiing and knows that side of the state well, so I’m sure we’ll venture over there soon enough.
St. Augustine is nice, though. It’s a beautiful little town, not too warm, and there’s a big city about 45 minutes north, close enough to be available, but far enough not to encroach… I couldn’t offer any leads for GD jobs down here, though :o)
