tha mic rulah, tha old-schoolah
My opinion of my own coolness got taken down a notch or three (probably a healthy thing?) last night after I compiled a list of possibly the most f-ed up cd collection ever. I think some of those albums are like matter and antimatter–they should merge and annihilate on the shelf where they sit.
In my defense:
A. Some of those albums are swiped from my parents and I just never bothered to give them back.
B. It’s more a chronicle of the development of my musical taste rather than its current state. Though that admittedly doesn’t mean much since you don’t know which albums I bought a long time ago and which I’ve purchased recently.
C. I do have a pretty classy vinyl record collection which I didn’t include on the list.
So yeah. Anybody still want a mix cd? :)

*raises hand*
My CD list is pretty diverse, as well. If you want, when I get it updated on the Excel spreadsheet, I’ll send you a copy.
here we go
Adiemus
All Star United (i saw them at carowinds once. i was fifteen and i thought they were cool. i bought stickers and a t-shirt.)
Aphex Twin
Daft Punk
Brian Eno
Massive Attack – Protection
Moby – 18
Orbital
Vienna Teng
Underworld
and as usual…whatever you think is cool. no beatles. :)
E-mail me your address and I’ll put something together. If there are any specific artists you’d like to hear, let me know too :)
Duly noted. I’ll probably make a cd or two with selections from the artists you mentioned, and then another of “Matt’s Picks” or some equally cheesy moniker. I love the Beatles, but I’ve heard their music so frequently that the albums I do have are mainly just for archival purposes at this point–so I wasn’t going to include anything by them anyway :)
a place called vertigo
someone on a mailing list i belong to extracted edge’s guitar from the vertigo mp3s rolling around and posted a (somewhat scratchy) distillation. if you just want to feel the vibe and not be disappointed in lyrics, it’s not a bad way to pass three minutes.

I want one. Two things. No Gangsta’s Paradise. No Lionel Richie.
Oh wait.
Well I mean you can send me one if one day you’re like “oh look, I have a few spare minutes, let me burn Emily a CD,” but don’t go out of your way. Because I’ve no problem with files sent via AIM.
Wow, I LOVE that. It’s got so much more contrast to it than the full version–some of that grunge-ish soft verse/loud chorus structure. I’m definitely rocking out in the office today.
Thanks :)
No Gangsta’s Paradise? Dang.
I’ll put one together for you. Is there anything you’d like to hear in particular?
Oh, and that icon series is the best I’ve ever seen. No foolin’.
Not really. Surprise me.
Thanks :) I like your new icon and journal colors. I was weirded out when I noticed they changed (about 5 seconds ago).
Richard Marx next to Massive Attack… nice juxtaposition, heh. You should list your vinyl collection.
I replied to your email, and got an automated response in reply telling me that it was being held (hostage??) in your “suspected spam” inbox. Just FYI :)
I got jealous of all these CD library lists (well, yours and randomaxes’) and decided to make my own. If you’d like a mixed CD TOO, let me know and I’ll e-mail it to you.
I thought you already made a list a long time ago? Isn’t this it?

I’d love a mix cd. We can hash out the details tonight.
Well… yes and no. Those are just my favorites. I don’t actually own all the ones listed in that entry — several are borrowed from friends, some listed just because I adored songs on the particular CD, and a few are CDs that I owned Once Upon a Time.
Fixed it :)
I go through my ‘suspect mail’ box every day, so I would have caught it. I just used yet another one of my e-mail addresses (oops) to e-mail you with. Oh, well.
