Looks like after about 25 hours of sketching over the course of the past week or so, I’ve finally stumbled onto an armrest design the Eclipse people are happy with. I can see working on the overall design of the seat with that degree of fastidiousness, but rehashing a detail like the armrest (or the flipping–pun intended–recline lever) just drives me nuts. And it’s not that I feel like my concepts are substandard, either…but when they decide to completely change the retraction mechanism halfway through the process, it’s cause for a bit of frustration.

I still wish they had gone with the open headrest concept… but at least the seat has more contour to it than the monolithic slabs they were previously. If nothing else, I think it will be a good portfolio piece.

I want cheese, inexplicably.

Are the armrest designs for that freelance job you’re doing?

Heh, we have lots of those little mini Babybel cheeses here.

Yes, they’re for the freelance job. They don’t show up on the renderings I linked to since those are computer generated and only the actual seat I designed a few months ago has actually been digitized. The armrest and other details are still in the sketching stage.

I lived off those cheeses when we lived in France. And, um, also a few months ago when we went back. Old habits die hard… :o)
