Well.
I had a nice long entry written, and then my computer locked up… I remember endorsing Macs at some point in the past… Remind me why?
Anyway. The jist:
1. I watched Reality Bites over the weekend, and while not overly impressed by the movie, I did enjoy the inclusion on the soundtrack of U2’s “All I Want Is You,” a typically sweeping, gradiose, anthemic love song. I want to buy Rattle and Hum now.
2. The flight exhibit at the NCMA was stellar. Some breathtakingly beautiful pieces were on display.
3. Revisiting the museum after a hiatus of several years brought back lots of memories of the period when I went there every week for an art history class, and the pastel drawing and block printing classes I took, and greatly enjoyed.
4. I had a good run last night. 7:15-7:30 miles. I was trucking. I might sign up for a local 5K soon.
5. I need to do laundry. Badly.
6. I dug up the 6-hour version of Pride & Prejudice from my parents’ house yesterday afternoon, brought it back to the apartment, and made it about halfway through before I decided to go for that run. Such a good film–I’ll finish it tonight.
you ran over 7mi for shits and giggles, and you’re hestitant to sign up for a 5k? even though it’s less than 1/2 that distance??
you should go for it. and run for me, because i suck at running and my hip doesn’t like it, though when it’s nice out the rest of me enjoys it.
Nonono… I ran about 3-4 miles, but at a 7:15-7:30 minutes/mile pace. Guess I should make that more clear :o)
I think I will, actually. Now to find that flyer and sign up…
I have this general rule of generalization: men who like anything having to do with Pride and Prejudice do not exist. My rule broken by a viewing of a 6 hour version! Good on ya, though.

I have a well-known (or perhaps not so well-known) penchant for Austen adaptations. Are you a fan of her work and its movie incarnations?
Might not have been quite that fast. I know how far I’m going and generally how long it takes me to navigate the circuit, but I’ve not bought a stopwatch yet. I think I should. But thanks :o) It’s nice to be back in the swing (step?) of things.
I’m amazed
I am as amazed as the earlier person. You certainly deserve at least a tshirt. You are the *first* man I’ve ever seen who I’ve heard of watching P&P. Six hour version so that’d be the A&E? If so that is my favorite and I own it on DVD. After watching Mansfield Park yesterday it sparked an interest in watching that one. Then I come here to find you had watched some of it. Lovely.
That’s the version :o) I think our copy was taped from television back sometime in the mid-’90s, so I have to fast-forward through commercials, but it’s not so bad. I love the movie except for the fact that I want to strangle Mrs. Bennet about 15 minutes into the film. Miss Bingley and Mr. Collins aren’t so bad–they’re just snide and funnily creepy, respecfully, but that mother… Gosh. Have you seen Persuasion? That and Mansfield Park are my favorite Austen adaptations, with P&P running a close second. The others are a bit too “Hollywoodized” for my tastes…
Huhmmm, you get a historically accurate ascot, complete with directions for use and tips on how to recreate that Victorian brood.
I am a fan of her work, Austen always appealed to me more than Bronte. I think I prefer the books over the films, but I’ve only seen the most recent version and I think I’d like a older/more cheaply made version with the token unknown British cast that must exist. Is the 6 hour version one of those?
It’s good that you taped it, if you buy the tapes you have to change tapes six times. I know I’m lazy ,but it’s annoying. I enjoy the dvd because there are only two.
lol Mrs. Bennett does have her quirks. I know people with a bit of what she has ,but nothing that extreme. Mr. Collins is intresting I’ll give him that. He annoys me, but partially because of his attitude towards some of the girls I’m sure. I love Colin Firth as Mr.Darcy it’s the first thing I ever saw him in and I’ve been a fan since.
I believe I watched Persuasian or started it, it didn’t catch my eye like P&P, Emma and Mansfield Park. Since you so highly reccomend I might need to give it another shot.
An ascot?! Rock. That’s what I always wanted… Though wouldn’t I look a bit clergy-like? I was going for “dapper.” But I suppose awardees can’t be choosers…
Yes, it’s the six-hour version. If you’re more inclined to prefer a “purer” Austen adaptation, you might like Persuasion. It has the requisite unknown British cast and if very faithful to the book–not to mention quite engrossing.
