i’ve had one of those conversations .. just recently actually. i’ve got my wonderful luck to thank for that. it always seems to happen to me .. at all the wrong times.
It seems to happen to me with alarming frequency over the phone, since tone of voice and timing are like, everything. Not to mention the fact that oftentimes I’ll formulate what I want to say initially before I pick up the phone, and that automatically disqualifies anything I say from sounding natural… Heh.

ah that’s so true though! that always happens to me .. i’ll always think through what i’m going to say, over and over it seems, but when the time comes to actually say it, the words just aren’t there. kind of frustrating, huh? :)
Ever have those times when you think of something funny to say, but someone else is talking, and then the more you roll what you were going to say around in your mind, the more you convince yourself how dumb it sounds, so when/if you actually end up saying it, it comes out sounding like you don’t believe in your own joke anymore, and of course it falls flat on its face? That’s always fun :o)
