I will not be afraid of women

Heard a solitary bird chirping outside my window this morning. It was immeasurably pleasant to hear instead of the buzz of the summer insects or the din of the trucks next door pulling in and out of the driveway. My plant is still surviving, albeit barely. I think it’s reached a sort of equilibrium where it’s not dying anymore, but it’s not thriving, either. Just kind of existing, being.

Just got a call from the shop about my car’s smoking ordeal. The compression numbers for the pistons were at least consistent, but “consistently wore out,” as the mechanic put it. Basically the engine’s going to need a complete rebuild. This excites me with the prospect of having a tight, fresh engine when everything’s said and done, but it’s a bit daunting financially. I could do most of it myself, but it would take a couple of months. I’m a sucker for projects like this; I just wish I could call the shots as far as when it occurs.

You get a chirping bird, I get a buzzing mosquito.

Oh well. Who said life was fair?

    :)

And birds eat mosquitoes, too… Some birds. If I remember my National Geographic TV shows correctly.

Yes, but see, what time did you get up? 7:30?

Then send your lovely bird to eat my obnoxious mosquito!

I got up at 5:00 due to the mosquito, then for real at 7:20. You?

Have you heard the song (Dar Williams, “As Cool As I Am”)? That’s actually the original context of the song…

I will send my bird right away.

I got up at 7:30, so wow, yeah, looks like life isn’t fair after all… That’s a slightly depressing discovery.

Hmm… how to redeem this comment… Ah yes. A funny word. Schpdoinkle!

    I don’t know how I didn’t ever see this comment last night…

I don’t think you realize how long it took by to sound out “schpdoinkle”.
