driving towards winter
The bugs aren’t gone yet. I’m still waiting in fervent anticipation for that nice cold front that will decimate their population while daylight hours are still somewhat condusive to spending time outside or working on the car in the evening. Every once in a while I have to stop and take my seasonal bearings, usually in writing, since that’s when these things come out. The state fair is nearly upon us, too. Just a week or two before Philly cheese-steak and funnel cake bliss. And those big pumpkins, too, with the big blue ribbons on them. Yeah. Not to eat, though… Heavens no.
Jamin, Jordan, and Jake have gone to bed. Jake had a ride to soccer practice this evening, so my responsibilities as chauffeur were waived, and my evening was free. Nobody was at Strong’s, though, when I came, and I couldn’t for the life of me remember where the “discussion group” was meeting, so I just had a nice drive and trip to Lowes and Borders, Lowes to pick up some fasteners (I usually lose at least one during my big car projects), and Borders just to relax a bit. It didn’t work too well, so I returned and finished my book (Carry On, Mr. Bowditch). I’m going to sleep shortly.
Somewhere, the leaves are turning. Somewhere the plane of the sunrise is melted by the fire of the dawn. Sometimes, I…
