you lose it just to find it
1. Took my coin jar to the Coinstar machine in the grocery store. I liberated around $135 in usable currency from my living room. And yes, the amount they skim off the top is a bit exorbitant, but consider the fact that the pennies alone added up to that amount, and pennies by themselves happen to be quite useless, so I do not consider that I have sacrificed much for the convenience of several new bills in my wallet.
2. Diane and I went to Noble’s on Saturday night for our three monthiversary. Fantastic dinner, of course not hindered by the company of far and away the most beautiful (indeed, the only) woman in the restaurant. They had given us a semi-secluded, romantically-situated table at which conversation was quite easy. I had salmon and she ordered a New York strip, both consumed alongside an excellent bottle of St. Émilion. I loved that she was there, sharing a romantic evening with me.
3. Father’s Day was spent in Boone with her extended family. The mountains are a relatively short drive from Winston-Salem and Luke did very well in the car. We went through letter, shape and color flashcards for a good deal of the trip home, and he is already recognizing many letters. He’s still reluctant with speaking, however, and at this rate it may very well be that he learns to read before he can speak. Heh. But the trip was much fun, and her extended family is very welcoming, kind and warm.
