i’ve seen this room and i’ve walked this floor
Had lunch with Bret today at Panera. I had half a Frontega Chicken Sandwich, a bowl of Chicken Noodle Soup and a hunk of baguette. And a Chocolate Duet Cookie (with Walnuts). Talk about a filling lunch that just makes you feel ready for the afternoon. After feeling slightly malnourished yesterday and having a headache all evening, today’s lunch hit the spot. Also during conversation, Bret mentioned that he’s been happy with my performance so far. It’s nice to hear that every once in a while.
I am slightly amused that Eclipse decided to use my armrest design for the 500. After designing the seats and giving them at least a dozen different armrest concepts, all of which they vetoed, it would seem, based on this concept image, that they actually went back and decided to use one of my designs. Could have saved me the frustration a year and a half ago and told me one was acceptable, but oh well. It’s water under the bridge, and I’m happy to have my design instincts somewhat vindicated.

yeah, i have it. and it’s good, but i love cohen’s the best, maybe because i love to hear people sing their own songs. although covers are good too. ;)

It is a beautiful song. It’s kind of an odd song in that it incorporates elements that speak from the vantage point of both a youthful passion and an older, hard-won wisdom. Maybe that universality is why it’s been so widely covered? In any event, that dichotomy is why I haven’t a hard time deciding whether I like Buckley’s or Cohen’s version the best–they each emphasize the respective facets of the song, a bit to the detriment of the other.

ah, but youthful passions are where older, hard-won wisdom comes from…two sides of the same coin. jeff buckley’s version breaks my heart but cohen’s makes me feel like it happens to everyone. or something.
