when you stop seeing beauty / you start growing old
Good things about today so far:
- Between emulating the solid modeling process on a similar, but not identical, lazy susan tray, having the actual part in front of me with digital calipers handy and a copy of the actual blueprints, modeling up the first part in SolidWorks is going very smoothly indeed. I should have it done and drawings made by the end of the day, which should please Bret.
- People at work. Ming, the Chinese production engineer who barely speaks any English, is carrying on a very animated cell phone conversation next to me with a cab driver in New York supposedly driving his wife to the airport. The cabbie evidently made a detour from the route Ming feels he should have followed and they’re now delayed: “You make big turn into Manhattan! No! Want to go to La Guardia!” etc…
Meanwhile, Karl, a very outgoing distribution supervisor of Austrian origin, is joking with Andreas about how they’re the only two straight men in America who own a pair of Italian-designed red jeans. Don’t have the foggiest how they got on that topic. Later on, Karl gives a waltzing demonstration while mentioning how the rubber soles of his shoes squeaked while dancing at the Austrian 50th anniversary of independence celebration in Vienna… - Received an e-mail from Félicie today. No word on whether she received my letter over the summer, but it’s still nice to hear from her. Funny how my mind immediately starts planning a trip to France next summer (or sooner)…
- This post amused me greatly, especially the Family Circus and auction barker bits.

How was your quiz?
Quiz was fine :) Just 20 questions on physiology and decision-making with regards to flight. Nothing major. Most everybody in the class aced it.

My Friday was tight, though now it’s Saturday and I still have to finish these blasted papers :( I did get a lot done on them last night though!
