i want a lot of what you got / and i want nothing that you’re not
Just got a new job! This is a huge answer to prayer.
Interviewed here about an hour and a half ago. I’ll be preparing assembly drawings and instruction sheets, among other things–not the most exciting work in the world, but it pays much, much better than Harris Teeter, their schedule is flexible and it looks better on my resume. The interview was a little intense as my future boss gave me some sample problems I might encounter involving dimensioning and tolerances and asked how I would solve them. I haven’t done any hardcore CAD work or drafting in about three years so I fumbled through them a little. But evidently I passed muster.
Just wanted to share. Lunchtime!

Praise God! Huzzah! :)
High five!!
WOO HOO!!
That’s awesome, bro. What CAD program will you be using? Pro/E, Solidworks, Autodesk, AutoCad, Catia? I’ve got some old examples and maybe my old textbook which talks at length about the appropriate way to dimension and tolerance. Let me know if you have questions.
…Be wary of tolerance stack-up…Oooooo…
Cool, congrats!
congratulations, matt! that’s wonderful news!
Huzzah!
:)
Solidworks, and yeah, tolerance stack up was one of the things we covered during the interview. It’s not a hard concept to grasp, fortunately… I’d love to get hold of your examples and textbooks. Maybe I can pick them up at Thanksgiving? I won’t really be starting at the new place until Dec. 1.
w00t :)
Thank you!
Thanks Erica :)
Yeah man. Just remind me and I’ll bring them for sure.
now you’ve got me motivated. ;)
Let me know if they need a mathematician…
I just realized that Jesus (Victor Garber) and Joe Banks (Tom Hanks) have similar body language going on. Nice.
:)
Seriously, these are the things that entertain me in the wee small hours of the morning.
Intentional icon choice :)
I don’t have one that compares to Icon 125/36.
*weeps*

That’s great, Matt. Sounds more entertaining than what you were doing, eh? (Not to mention the money.) I’m sure you’ll do great.
