ablative cooling

Shouldn’t be up this late on a Sunday night. I only have one class tomorrow morning, though, early–7:20, ground school. We’re “learning” about weather. I say “learning” because Mr. Hahn, though he certainly knows enough of the material to be of use to him as a pilot, isn’t the best communicator of said material. I’m no professor, but I have a hunch just rattling off “Hadley cell, Ferrel cell and Polar cell” without any prior setup (they’re bands of convection that exist in decreasing proximity to the equator) isn’t the best way to get the information across. Honestly the only reasons I’m hanging in there are a. I read the book, b. I took intro to meteorology at NCSU (and aced it), and c. my brother is a meteorology grad student. Otherwise I’d be swimming untethered in a sea of alien terminology and concept.

Paul, David, Rachel and I watched Ong-Bak last night. It’s the second time I’d seen it, and their first. I had certainly hyped it up enough. All the video rental places only had one or two copies, which were invariably checked out, so I broke down and bought the thing. Watching it makes me want to emphasize my core muscles more when I work out at the gym. I’ve been doing an ab exercise routine for years, and routinely focus on my pecs and my lats during a workout, but I haven’t done a dedicated exercise for my obliques or my back muscles in quite some time. I’m definitely going to focus more on them tomorrow at the Y. Between that and flexibility exercises I think I’ll be set. Also need to find a racquetball and tennis partner–but that’s another dilemma entirely.
