This weekend was not amazingly hot, either metaphorically or literally. The wedding was at 2 p.m. outside the white farmhouse of the groom’s family’s farm, and it was amazingly blustery. I’m sure the bride was freezing as she said her vows and faced the groom, who didn’t take his sunglasses off for the entire ceremony. Other than that it was just a ordeal of meeting relatives who hadn’t seen me since I was short (in other words, a long, long time ago).
We just vegged out and watched television afterwards in the house we were renting for the night. We made a shopping trip as well to a local grocery store for dinner. The rice-a-roni didn’t turn out nearly as well as it did this summer… I must have been doing something wrong.
I slept downstairs in my sleeping bag. The living room was so orderly and quiet, save for a very noisy cricket I had to flush around 3 a.m. I watched SNL, then went to bed. My thoughts were deafening over the silence, and it took me a long time to fall asleep, tossing and turning.
I applied for a position as a SolidWorks drafter last night via the internet. I probably won’t get it, but it doesn’t hurt to start letting places know you’re available, and besides, the whole matter is in God’s hands anyway. I’m not that picky; I lead a pretty simple life; I’m not that demanding, so I’m sure something will come along that will work out to the mutual advantage of both my future employer and me.
Comme disent les Francais, on vera.
By the way, I think the Phil Collins album “Both Sides” is a soundtrack for my life.

you flushed a cricket?! tsk, tsk, tsk… it’ll comeback 10 fold. haha.
Haven’t heard that one…
Besides, he was aggravating. You ever have one of those in the room while you’re trying to sleep? I was being pragmatic.
:o)
