This cartoon kills me. I’m not even exactly sure why–maybe hearing “Zeeba! Zeeba!” and “Do mouf to mouf! Be heewo!” in my head has something to do with it. Funny words… The strip this past Sunday was good too, and the title panel was a send-up of The Joshua Tree album cover. Can’t argue with that…
I’m slowly reconciling myself to the possibility that this fall may not happen all at once. Nothing’s come up to necessitate a shift in plans, but I’ve been running through backup scenarios in my mind. I’m definitely going to be quitting my job here and moving out west in a few months; that much I know, but my housing situation and what will transpire when I do get there is less concrete and depends a great deal on financial goings-on between now and then. But even if I have to rent again or work retail or some such for a year or so, at least I’ll be out there. I’m doing my best to pry the fingers of my mind off one particular sequence of events, but it’s not easy… God’s been showing me that it will end up being a lot like our trip to Europe last year–it was a whirlwind and Plan A didn’t always come through, but darn if we didn’t do everything that we set out to do and have a great time in the process. So with regard to this fall, I may have to “drive around the block a few more times,” as it were, but He’ll see me through.
David’s in Decatur, Illinois, for a few months, co-opping with Caterpillar at their earthmoving machinery plant there. After his birthday festivities Friday night, he awoke at the crack of dawn Saturday morning and drove his trusty Volvo 14 hours halfway across the country. Aside from a few hiccups, the car performed admirably during the actual trip, but over the weekend he’s been dealing with a water pump failure that’s incapacitated the car. He called yesterday evening in the midst of repairs and wanted to know bus schedules for Decatur (since he didn’t have immediate internet access and wanted to hash out a Plan B in case the car was still down for the count today). Thank goodness for well-maintained city websites and Google maps, but it’s still frustrating that I couldn’t help him out with the water pump problem… Gaaah. I just wanted to pack up my tools and make the trip myself. Darn it.
Just remember, “this is what I am supposed to do, and I am doing it”

as far as your plans… its good to have Plan A’s (as reference guides) and I’m glad that our trip last summer showed you the beauty of spontaneity (while also teaching me to make a Plan A in the first place, haha).
Will you be around the first/second week of June?

we get that comic in our sunday paper here in tucson. i skipped over it the first few weeks i was here because i didn’t know it, but i read it regularly now. very cute. :)

however, will theoretically be purchasing my plane ticket today :)
