It’s nice to be able to sleep in on Tuesdays and Thursdays for at least one semester of my college career. If nothing else it approximates what the last year of high school is supposed to be like but never is: the slack year (at least I’ve never seen anyone’s senior year turn out that way).
I dreamed I was at a Cake concert, and they were playing “Stickshifts and Safetybelts” and “The Distance,” among other tunes. I, however, was the only one in the crowd who actually knew their music and was a fan; everyone else just kind of wandered around in a semi-daze while the music played. I was jumping up and down, hooting and hollering, and even skanking to a few of their songs. Afterwards, everyone else dispersed, but I came up on stage and uttered the classic line, with arms spread wide, “I am your no.1 fan!” (which surely must have been true enough in that neck of the woods). I told them their music just made me feel cool, “like a leather trenchcoat or a pair of Doc Martens.” They horsed around for a bit while I sat and watched, then they loaded their stuff on the bus and drove off. Very surreal, the whole thing. The paradoxical bit of the whole affair is that I’m not that much of a Cake fan. Sure, I like a few of their songs, but really… Huh.
I feel better than I did last night. The viscosity of the air and my generally unkempt situation had gotten to me, but a shower, a shave, and a good night’s sleep have done wonders.
“Welcome to another day…” — Duncan Sheik

Once again I find someway to diverge from the norm. (your norm that is) My senior year was veryyy slack. Oh, and the dream thing? That was no dream my young apprentice. You are the only one who likes Cake. JUST KIDDING. ;) Another day has dawned hasn’t it. It’s wonderful what a shower and shave does.
you mean you *don’t* like being smelly?
had me fooled ;)
(just kidding)
perhaps your subconscious is trying to tell you something, if nothing else, find the mp3’s and then maybe I can convince you to send some my way, too ;) (my youngest sister is a nearly-rabid Cake fan, though certainly not their “number one”). Anyhoo, back to my good “Elyse food” that you so disdain (sniff sniff).
I am NOT the only one who likes Cake (read Elyse’s comment, thankyouverymuch).
:o)
Tim, you’re the exception to so many of my “norms,” that I lost count, so I think it was a given that I would leave you out when I made that statement in my entry.
Have a great day, and oh, check this out. You need sound and Shockwave. It rules.
I have a bunch of Cake mp3s, if you want them. I know I sent you “Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps,” and Erin has “Stickshifts and Safety Belts,” but there’s more where those came from.
And, in defence of “Elyse food,” those gingersnaps were quite good. I might have to buy some. Does Wellspring ever have sales or is the concept beneath them?
tsk tsk tsk, you have such silly pre-formed ideas of wellspring, and from someone who works at GNC too! They very often have sales, and I believe thats why I bought these, er, “snaps” in the first place ;)
Now where are you, the roomie, and the Bond film? Hmm…?
you must understand something, elyse…
matt doesn’t quite understand because, though both stores promote good health, GNC is synonymous with barely edible chemical substitute. they don’t quite understand the terms “natural” and “no preservatives”. they are quite a foriegn concept that contain no meaning. so… wellspring is quite beyond matt’s capacity to understand (at least with his current understanding of health food).
perhaps you can begin to educate him. i’m trying with foods in general… its a long, hard road.
;)
don’t trip on the way, ok babe?
