Okay. Working outside in the garage on the car for three hours in ~20° temps with only two layers on = not recommended. The worst part was the fact that not only was I working on the fuel system, and thus on my back the majority of the time (so the blood receded away from my hands, which were held above me), but gasoline evaporates much more readily than water or sweat does, pulling even more heat away from my hands in the process… I wore those plastic gloves, but they only do so much (mainly keeping gas out of the cuts).
But the Audi’s fixed. I have something I can drive to work tomorrow. This is the essential thing.

so, I would smack the top of your hands since you are being such a silly/thoughtless little boy, but then again, I’d feel guilty for abusing your already much abused digits.
ever heard of lotion?
do you have any dish washing gloves? if so, coat your hands with lotion, then put on the gloves. for best effect, leave on overnight, but you don’t want to be too girly, so maybe just try it for a couple hours while watching a movie or something ;)
That’s awesome. So I’m guessing the JB Weld held up. That’s quite good news I believe.
Well, mostly. I’ve got a nice steady drip from the fuel hardline grommet area in the floor of the trunk, but at least it’s not pooling anywhere, just dripping on the ground. And the performance of the car isn’t affected anymore, so I can drive the car until the tank’s almost dry, pull it, reseal it (I’m ordering some POR-15 sealant–good stuff), and reinstall it without too much drama. No more bucking or cutting out or contaminated fuel, just a leak. I’m thankful (tankful?) that’s the problem’s so minor at this point.
Maybe :) We’ll see. I’ll have to buy some dishwashing gloves first…
Goodness. I ‘m sorry to hear that your car has given you this much trouble. What a bummer. And your poor hands. :(
:) Thanks, Em. It’s what I get for buying an old German car for $1200, I suppose. I wouldn’t mind everything half as much if it were only about 30° warmer.
Hope your Tuesday is going well!
I was going to ask: what, you just wash your dishes with your bare hands? but then I thought better of it. I mean, y’all borgeoisie folks over thar have got ye a warshin machine aint that right?
don’t ask what kind of accent that is supposed to be, I don’t know.
Yes, I just wash my dishes with my bare hands. Never had any problem with it… Am I doing something wrong in that regard?
It’s fun to visualize you creating that pseudo-redneck-neo-commie-Snuffy-Smith accent :) I demand a reenactment next time we get up.
:)
beware: should such a reenactment ever occur, laughing fits of dangerous proportions will ensue. I hold no responsibility for milk/wine/tea/popcorn flying out of your nose.
(and yes, you should use gloves when washing dishes to protect your hands, silly boy)
