It runs. Runs well, in fact. The Taurus is completely reassembled and has been taken on a couple of shakedown errand trips. By the grace of God, all the mechanical bits are holding themselves together and rotating in their proper orbits. Not that there aren’t a couple of kinks to work out… the starter is being finicky and the speedometer doesn’t work. But ice-cold AC, good power, smooth sailing… :o) Thank you Lord. I’ll have everything worked out by the time school starts again. When that time arrives, come and get it, Elyse :o)

I even polished the rims and wiped all the grease off the fenders. Dang that’s a purty car :o) Paperweight to car for around $500 and a lot (read: LOT) of elbow grease. Anyway. I’ll stop gushing. I was just very encouraged by that event today.

In other news, I might move to Idaho in six months. Terry suggested that I could very well get a job working for Idaho Air Group, the non-profit Christian organization designing the Packer, the new type of aircraft I’m designing the passenger seats for. It’d be a temporary job, to be sure, since the first flight of the new plane is scheduled for next fall and I’d only be doing drafting and computer modeling. But it’s an idea…

    aides-moi?

I was discussing the car with my mother last night, and she brought up several questions, and b/c I couldn’t answer them, she was a bit doubtful of my decision to buy it (and I usually like to listen to my mom’s advice, if only to help shed light on situations). So… if possible, could you answer a few lil questions for me? :)

    Year?
    Anti-Lock brakes?
    Power windows/locks?
    Mileage?
and um… other things along those lines… anything you can think of essentially for me to present to her (b/c she found a jeep-like car for 1k that she was going to get me, but I said I wanted a more stable car, larger with good gas mileage, yadda yadda, but then I couldn’t answer any of her questions… you know how parents are).

    Merci!

    1989
    No ABS
    Power windows, locks, mirrors, seats
    Tilt steering
    Light blue/blue leather
    Cruise control
    Around 70K miles
    Alloy wheels
    Cold AC
Mechanic (me) “comes” with the car (warranty of sorts…)

Please understand it’s a risk. This car has just had another engine and a rebuilt transmission put in it. I’ve done the very best job I could, and it seems to run just fine, but it’s a risk nevertheless, just like all car purchases are, pretty much.

Let me know if there’s any more info you need…

sorry about the wrrd phone call

but I’m at work [looks around sheepishly]

but I was just becoming very worried (you don’t understand what a blessing this car is going to be). anyhoo, you’ve eased my fears, and you should expect another call from me later on this evening (maybe around 6/6:30?).

I just wanted to talk with you about insurance and title… you see, until I am 21 (ie; October)there are a few little complications on my end, and yeah, rather than babble on in your lj, I’ll just wait until tonight.

I’m glad you had a good time :)
(perhaps this means that I shall hear from Erin again, soon, too) ;)
