I think I need a nap. I’m not sure, though, mind you, so I could be mistaken. Cynthia (the other volunteer here in Terry’s office) and I helped set up for our supervisor’s daughter’s wedding for most of the afternoon. The setup is going to be quite unconventional, as befits a family with so much vested creativity and technical knowledge. Amy (Terry’s daughter) and John (her fiance, obviously) are going to be married in the gym of their church, but with the walls covered with curtains and a giant cargo parachute hanging from the ceiling with strings of white lights radiating from the center. You really have to see it. I’ll see if I can’t get some pictures tomorrow. We drove up to her church, met everyone, and downed prodigious amounts of Whoppers (the malt balls, not the sandwiches) and mini Twix bars. This is really the sort of day that makes you wish for a convertible :o)

Fireworks last night got rained on, for the most part. I went to one of the standard cookouts, then migrated to a local parking lot with many others who had similar aspirations of blowing things up. We left around 11. The parking lot was a scene I’ll never forget, driving out, with the knee-high layer of smoke surrounding vast quantities of fireworks debris strewn everywhere… It was an Independence Day wasteland.

A lot of people around me are getting married soon. Amy and John on Saturday, Cynthia next month, and John’s friend Joel shortly as well. I feel rather left out. Perhaps I should do something about that. I don’t like feeling left out.
