Going to see Garden State tonight at 9:30… Stoked about that, although it’s been hyped up waaay too much already, and I think we just need to go see the thing and end all the conversations that run along the lines of, “Man, that’s gonna be good; I’ve seen the trailers and I can’t WAIT for it to come out…” Etc etc; you get the drift. Of course, those’ll be replaced by conversations that overanalyze every bit of obvious and improbable symbolism, along with every nuance of dialogue, people talking about how, “I can relate to this…” or “I loved that…” But I don’t mind those so much.

I’ve completely given up my faith in my fellow Americans’ ability to drive. Picking up the movie tickets over lunch today, I viewed the unfortunate scenario of not one, but TWO people slowing down in order to merge with traffic… The first was greeted with mild amusement and head-shaking, but at the second I just burst out laughing. It’s ridiculous, really… The bewildered and exasperated look on the driver’s face when they come to the end of the onramp and no one’s slowed down to 15 mph and let them in… Hilarious. And it’s not just that, either–I witnessed several instances of weaving in and out of traffic with nary a blinker, antics on the cell phone behind the wheel… It goes on and on. Makes me glad I drive something a bit more lithe and agile than the average four-wheeled behemoth, all too common in the clusters of yuppie neighborhoods around here.

Sleepy after a heavy lunch. No nap today, though. Must push through…

You actually had faith in your fellow americans driving ability? shame, shame matt. Times of good samaritism in the driving circle have come and gone. They have been replaced by the age of technology and retardation. People won’t even get off thier phone to flip you off after cutting you off anymore. The blinker thing really gets to me because I haven’t been able to read peoples minds for years. Anywho, keep an eye on those jerks!
