So… I’m back. I’ve un-privatized a few older entries from the past few weeks, though they’re still friends-only. It’s too much effort to privatize stuff and to come back later and figure out what to show and what not to… What a drama. So I’m just not going to worry about it.

Weeks have been busy, but it’s not an idle busyness… Things are moving forward. I’ll be more specific in future entries; don’t worry. The workday is winding down today, though, and my capacity for recapitulation with it. So this’ll have to suffice as the contents of my generic “I’m back” post.

Hope everyone’s well. I’ve been reading your entries, no worries.

During a recent trip to Europe, it developed into a sort of running joke… During the latter two-thirds of the trip we rented a car and drove through western Europe. While traveling from Paris to Frankfurt, just after we crossed the German border, we started seeing signs along the highway for “Ausfahrt,” which in our naiveté we assumed just must be some German border town with a giggle-worthy name. Thing was, we kept seeing them, even after driving into the country for a good half-hour… My traveling companions and I marvelled at the size of this town, how “Ausfahrt” must stretch from the border pretty far into the country, since it seemed like every exit we passed had a road that led to the town. About 45 minutes to an hour across the border it finally dawned on us that it meant “exit” and that we had just been seeing signs demarcating offramps. Four college-educated people in the car and it took us 45 minutes to figure that out. But I think we were just blinded by the silliness (in English, at least) of the word. So it became a running reference for the rest of the trip, a good multipurpose silence-filler.

I was there visiting my friends, first time, when I noticed the since and began to crack up, when asked what was so funny, it was hard to explain over my giggles, I’m not sure they found it as funny as I did. hey a fart is an EXIT of some sort! Maybe that’s it’s origin? hahaha
