Katie was wonderful last night. A definite “best for last” ending event to a long, hectic day. I called her and asked her out for coffee two Sundays ago… She was home in Greensboro for spring break all last week, and finally returned my call Monday night, so we went out last night for about an hour at Borders. I got there a little early, so I had already staked out a spot in the “coffee area” and gotten some hot chocolate and a magazine. She arrived on time and sat down and immediately started talking. The conversation I think was pretty evenly balanced, and we hit it off quite well, at least from this end. She didn’t seem apprehensive, but it was almost like she never really relaxed to any degree… She came in with her purse, sat down, and that was that and seemed thoroughly keyed-up the whole time. But maybe that’s just how she is. The funny thing was, though, is that I almost relaxed more because of it. I’m fairly laid-back in general, and I found it very easy for this manner to be a counterpoint to her almost more energetic conversation. ‘Twas interesting.
In any case, I was impressed. She’s sharp as a tack, funny, intelligent, organized, and motivated. Gosh that sounds like a job interview. But she’s very pretty as well–at least I think so. And she has the best smile. She’s a little on the short side (5’6 or 5’7 maybe), but I see definite relationship possibilities in the future, assuming she reciprocates my growing sentiments. Now the question is where do I go from here… I’m thinking: Talk to her at church on Sunday, and ask her out to lunch sometime next week, and try to work in something at some point about doing something with friends. That would be key as well. I don’t want to scare her away in the least.
I’m so overanalytical. Conversation was great… She is… wonderful.

whoa, if 5’6 or 5’7 is short, then i must be a dwarf!
i am 5’4
eh, oh well. :P
glad you had a nice time :)
I’m 6’4, so yeah, 5’4 is pretty short :o) But it’s okay. I just have to content myself with the fact that I’ll never be able to dance cheek-to-cheek with whoever I marry. Ah well. Sacrifices…
ha!
there is a girl who lives at the end duplex who is alot shorter than me. a good foot shorter!
even her car tag says “shorty” :)
5’6″ isn’t short. that’s the average height for females.
i’m 5’6″, and i am not attracted to anyone shorter than 6″. my boyfriend is almost 6’3″. i’ve had things with guys that are 6’6″. the taller, the better. :-)
What do you know…I’ve been spending a good bit of time with a girl named Katie as well. She’s actually a little shorter. I think around 5’5″, and that’s tall for a gymnast. Good thing height isn’t as big of a thing for me as it is for you. She also has a great smile. And contrary-wise, we’ve done almost everything in groups. Either her roommate’s there or we’re just hanging out in a larger group. It’s a good way to get to know someone in a less of a “I want to get to know you” sort of way. You’re hanging out in groups, but you’re just paying more attention to one person. I have two symphony tickets for the 2nd and I might ask her. On verra. I’ve started being myself around her recently…that’s a big relief. It took a while, but I’m becoming more myself around her. Katie’s a good name, hehe.
Glad to hear you say that. I think I just want to be able to fit into the same photograph with her without the picture-taker having to step back TOO far, y’know? :o)
What is it about height that’s attractive anyway? Intuitively, I’d think that a guy who’s a little taller than you (3-4 inches) would be most attractive from a height standpoint. Why is taller better?
Groups are good… And I want to do more of than kind of thing with her, but it’s a bit difficult figuring how to work it in, since my group of friends is mainly the youth leaders, and they’re a pretty tight-knit bunch, and she doesn’t really HAVE a group as far as I know–the college kids from Grace don’t hang out together much anymore. But we’ll see what happens. Wish I had symphony tickets :oP (wow we sound like Niles and Frasier). “Katie” is a good name; you’re right.
Thanks for letting me borrow the car this week, too :o) The Supra is all put back together, and I’m working on getting it started. Current issue is a fuel leak, but I’m going to get some crush washers for the banjo fitting and that should resolve that.
well, i’m pretty sure it has to do with a couple things. my dad is nearly 6’3″ and i have a scandinavian heritage that my family is proud of. my boyfriend’s background is 100% norwegian…norwegians and swedes are known for height.
Yeah, no problem. So the Supra is close to working? I thought you had to rewire it all again. I guess not. Good luck with both of those :)
