Back at work. I was dreading it slightly last night, but sitting here today, working on the Gazette redesign in a quiet office, with only the music over the headphones to keep me company… It’s actually quite nice. I thank God for this job every day. Gosh.
Got my car started yesterday…finally. First time it’s run since September. This was fairly huge considering how much energy I’ve expended on getting everything sorted. And it’s still not there yet… but it was rather exciting. I was happy. I feel like I’m walking forward waist-high in molasses trying to make progress on this thing, so I’ll take anything I can get. If you feel a compulsion to review the event in more detail, visit gearheads, where I quarantine the vast majority of my automotive ramblings, for your own protection.
New Year’s eve party tonight at Heather and Leslie’s. The theme is ’20s and ’30s, and I have no idea what to wear. No clue, and I wouldn’t know where to shop for those clothes even if I did know. Golly. I think I’m just going to wear a pair of chinos, black shoes and belt, and a navy blazer. Hard to go wrong with that, and if people squint their eyes I might actually look a little Gatsby-ish. At least that’s what I’m hoping.

i hope i have a good job that i enjoy like you do yours when i’m finally done with school. :)
have fun at the party tonight. :) happy new year!
Well, if you lived here, you could go to to Honeymoon Bungalow and buy a cheap zoot suit. You’re bound to know somebody with a top hat or a bowler hat you can wear? Maybe? If you really want to wear something other than you’ve already planned (which sounds fine, so there’s no need to worry about it), check the thrift center/Salvation Army/Goodwill for some pinstriped pants. Rock it Al Capone style.
:)
Happy New Year, Matt! I’ve enjoyed getting to know you this year.
I’m sure you will. Taking the leap that you are to move away and go to school is a sign you’ll never be content with anything less than what your heart is really after. Everybody’s gotta pay their dues to move up the ladder, sure (I went through a crap job), but you’ll arrive at something grand, there’s no doubt in my mind :o)
Happy new year, Nicole :o)
What a great photo of Al Capone. Thanks for the ideas, too. Dressing for the party hasn’t exactly been a priority this past week or two, so I don’t really know why I was stressing about it as much as I was. If it had been higher up on the list I think I would have done exactly what you say–gone for a gangster hat and pinstriped pants, and I would have borrowed Andy’s violin case to stash a few odds and ends in :o) Ah well.
Happy new year to you too, Emily :o) Likewise… Talk to you next year! (or before)
