I stopped by the bar at 3 a.m.
To seek solace in a bottle or possibly a friend
I woke up with a headache like my head against a board
Twice as cloudy as I’d been the night before
And I went in seeking clarity
No calls today. I feel like a hamster in an exercise wheel. Throw me something, people… Yay, nay… And I shouldn’t be like that. I am a talented professional. I have something that would add value to their company and their product line, whatever that may happen to be.
I wonder sometimes if I should just go back to school. I could work at GNC until I found another, more design-oriented job to pay the tuition bills. I want to work for another year, though, at least. Just work. My aunt Lucy was so encouraging over the phone, in spite of her obsession with my becoming a furniture designer. Maybe I should drive up and visit them for a little while. If nothing else it would make a nice road trip, and a good change of scenery. We’ll see. My brother Paul and some friends are coming down on Sunday or Monday to help me move. That will be good, both to have them down here and to move. See, right now I might as well be doing all my job hunting from a bunker in South Dakota. When I’m back up in NC, I can actually drive to places, present myself and my portfolio, and interact with people in person. And not that I won’t have a real sense of urgency and diligence about things, but I won’t have the move hanging over my head like I did here. That will help too. I still covet your prayers.
Well darkness has a hunger that’s insatiable
And lightness has a call that’s hard to hear…

what song is that?
Indigo Girls, “Closer to Fine.” It’s a great album if you get the chance to pick it up/borrow it. I have a copy if you’d like a listen.
Hope you’re having a good Thursday :o)
