We moved the entire engineering office most of the way across the plant today. We. Us. The engineering boys. Even with five strong guys, it was a full day of lifting and hoisting and manuvering and adjusting. There was a ridiculous amount of stuff crammed in that small office space, 95% of which we’ll probably never look at again. And of course the managers are just sitting pretty in their new offices, listening to mozart and shooting the breeze with one another, while we’re hauling 30 giant metal file drawers up two flights of stairs in the lamination building, with fiberglass shards and fumes hanging in the air from the hull molds, and having to squeeze the drawers through two I-beams which are about a foot and a half apart, and then through the office door… There was a lot of swearing, needless to say. It was really starting to wear me down by the end of the day… The one thing that almost made it all worthwhile was the fact that I got to drive the electric golf cart most of the day. Being able to buzz back and forth between the new and old offices was fun, it gave me a chance to sit for a minute, and the movement provided a nice breeze. It was the loading and unloading that wasn’t so great.
At least I’m home, and it’s Friday. Thank goodness for that. What a day.

and so now they’re using you for grunt work?
wow, I thought they only hired the illegal hispanics for that kind of labor down there… (completely just kidding, I think)
you’ve been in florida how long, and you’ve only just now driven a golf cart?!
They use me for everything. Job descriptions? Pah!
The ironic thing about your illegal hispanic comment is that one of my bosses is a Cuban immigrant (legal, I think).
And you know my penchant for transportation… Golf carts just won’t do in the vast majority of cases :o)
wow, with that kind of penchant for transportation, I really think that you would love Beijing… there is some kind of divine organization at work, b/c I am constantly amazed that more people aren’t turned into road pizza everyday.
and there is also this really cool motorcycle with side seat indiana jones thing that is coming back “in” and I think you would totally dig something like that ;)
The motorcycle thing does sound cool. I wonder if it’s my inner (outer?) Harrison Ford influencing me…
Are there pictures of it somewhere?
hmm…. ok, so now I’m on a mission: take random picture of guy on motorcycle, then send to Matt.
:)
and you have an inner/outter Harrison Ford? That would explain the cocky smile…
Yes, yes! You must do this. Startle the fellow too, while you’re at it (it will make for a more interesting picture).
About the Harrison Ford thing… I think most every guy has at least a smidgen of him on the inside (otherwise his movies wouldn’t be so appealing as they are), and about the outside aspect of it, I was only alluding to a comment that you made yourself…
(in very cool mission: impossible fashion, computer begins to smoke 10 secs after reading this email)
yes, I accept the mission (to take a picture of a startled motorcyclist who truly wishes that he were harrison ford) ;)
