I miss her. I miss her gentle, soft, indelibly feminine voice, and her movements, each marked with an undeniable grace… I miss her laugh. I miss her vulnerability with me, and I miss my openness and vulnerability with her, when I could open myself without having my heart trampled on over and again. I want to hold her in my arms again, to place my palm on her cheek, wrap her in my warm embrace and say, again, “Welcome home.” Why must she be so far away and we have done what we’ve done? There are a million things, and more. I hate the emptiness and futility of words sometimes.

Will I ever love as deeply again? It’s a fair question.
