I am immeasurably glad to be home. This has been the single most difficult day of my short tenure at Luhrs. The long and short of it is just changes upon changes Geno and I are responsible for in a boat that is already an absolute production nightmare. On top of that, I’m the go-to guy for everyone down in the cabinet shop. Whenever they have a question or need a drawing, they come to me. I don’t have 20 years of furniture-making experience like many of them do… *sigh* This company is just a royal mess. There is no meaningful communication anywhere, blame-throwing is rampant… I watched Office Space this weekend and felt a real measure of sympathy with the guys in that office. And with all these changes on the 44, they wonder why we’re not making any progress on the 30, or even the 40 convertible, the next boat to be designed… I practically sprinted out of there today at 5 o’clock. I need your prayers for endurance and perserverance. It’s hard some days, like today.
Bob showed up in Twinkie today. He took care of some of the rust this week and gave the bodywork a good polish with rubbing compound. The car looks better than it has in a long time. I was happy to see that he’s satisfied. He hasn’t got the stereo figured out yet, but he replaced the paper cones in the front with some decent speakers. He always eats in his car over lunch… When he drove his Beetle to work, he’d always say he was eating at the “Beetle Cafe.” I asked him how “Chez Tercel” was today… Goodness, that humor sounds really office-y, doesn’t it? It was really funny at the time. Hmm. Perhaps that’s an indication of something…
