The chicken fingers are sitting rather heavily in my stomach… not a feeling a particularly enjoy. But… I’ve made a resolution to complain as little as possible to LJ. I don’t want this to be a forum for that. What it is a forum for, I haven’t quite determined yet. But enough self-conscious philosophy…

The calendar I received for Christmas is up on my wall now. It has old art deco travel posters on it, advertising the beauty of the French Riviera. My parents bought it for me while we were visiting France over the summer, presumably. France is predominantly Catholic, so each day has the name of its patron saint. My birthday is St. Vincent.

How can the bonds that attract us to one another be so strong and so tenuous at the same time? Might it be because we only see things from our perspective, that we only understand the attraction on our own terms? I think a lot of it has to do with idealization, facades, and the knowledge of who we really are. What drives people to overlook the glaring deficiencies in each others’ lives is something I’ll never understand, but experience on a daily basis. I’ll make something besides sweeping generalizations on this topic later, when my roommate isn’t playing country music.
