hold fast
Visited the airport yesterday again. I sat on the bench outside the flight school and ate what was left of my lunch after a distressingly long trip to the “nearest” grocery store. Got visited by (what I assume was) one of the administrators of the flight school, making sure I was really just eating lunch and wasn’t up to no good. The mention of friendship with Jethro, previously a regular there, and a private pilot’s license from Sugar Valley seemed to satisfy her. A Raytheon Hawker 800 taxied by about 30 feet in front of me, trundled down to the end of the runway and took off, hurtling by at around 120 mph while its landing gear folded away into its wings. The power the plane’s two little engines crank out is amazing, to accelerate such a massive thing to such a speed and enable it to lift off the ground.
Later, a Bonanza A36 taxied into a parking space and cut off its engine. I craned to see who would emerge, and it turned out to be a couple of middle-aged businessmen. They could have been golfing buddies. I’m not sure quite what I expected.
I have a full-time job here at ImageWorks, with full benefits. I accepted the position yesterday after a slight improvement of the offer from last Thursday. It’s a relief, and is certainly wonderful to have settled. This is a great place to work, with good people who expect a lot from their employees, but also treat them well. The work ethic here is one of the biggest draws. God will do what He wills, but we are so grateful for His provision in everything, and it’s nice to be able to plan things into the foreseeable future with the job in mind. Thank all of you for your prayers.
I’m glad to hear about your new work situation. A decent salary is nice, but benefits are the bomb…especially when you’re having a baby. I just wish i had some right about now… But i’m where i’m supposed to be, and it’s evident. But i still hate paying out money that i otherwise wouldn’t have to. It hurts.
That Raytheon 800 is quite a beast. Topping out at over 500 mph? Wow. That’s quite the private plane.

Yeah, the Hawker 800 is a nice ride. And to think it’s considered a “midsize” business jet… Heh.
