The sunbeams slowly creep across my cubicle here at work. I’m grateful for the large window but the glare does become problematic in the early afternoon. I stand up periodically to adjust the blinds so that the sun doesn’t shine in my eyes but I can still see outside. In the late afternoon their angle becomes such that my view is gone… Sad. But such is life post-Daylight Savings Time.
Luke loves to be quizzed about things that interest him. His two favorite verbal games at the moment are “Is X bigger or smaller than the Earth?” and “State, country or continent?” Each game has its own special “tricky ones,” which he waits with bated breath to be asked. The Bigger or Smaller Game’s tricky question concerns Venus, which is neither bigger nor smaller than the Earth, but the same size (technically it’s slightly smaller but we needn’t bother about that). Georgia is the object of the State, Country or Continent Game’s tricky question. It’s both a country (in western Asia) and a state. We play the games over breakfast. I’ve been trying to be more engaged in the mornings instead of waking up with just enough time to stumble through my routine and head to work. I enjoy it, too. It’s fun to sit with Luke and nibble around the edges of my peanut butter toast so that it resembles a country, while he scarfs down a bowl of frosted mini wheats. Today I made Mauritania.
