Can I say we’re enjoying the camera? One of its best qualities is its ability to take rapid series of shots, very useful with young kids who smile for a fraction of a second at the most. I can’t say I quite know how to use all its other features, but a little experimentation goes a long way. A major strength of digital cameras comes from being able to take as many throwaway shots as needed without having to worry about wasting film. It really gives one an idea of what each twist of a knob or push of a button is doing.
I had a wonderful birthday celebration on Tuesday. Diane made Salisbury steak, one of my favorite meals (and did a fantastic job), put up streamers and balloons and made some birthday cupcakes. I received a couple of Over the Rhine albums, Snow Angels and The Trumpet Child. Love them.
Work has been a little slow lately, which means at least a couple of the designers (out of three) are relegated to working on the website redesign. Trying to achieve the exact look we want, Charlie has been relearning Flash, downloading a Flash template to modify it to our needs, and I’ve been taking the more bare-bones route in teaching myself (really teaching this time) HTML and CSS. It’s been a lot of fun so far, albeit frustrating at times. I love the ability to separate content from style, something I’ve always wanted to do with my webpages. The more streamlined, the simpler the better. And just to hand-code a whole page and see my creation in a browser, with the ability to tweak just about any element with a freedom unencumbered by the knowledge that some GUI-oriented web design program (i.e. Dreamweaver) is writing 60% more code than the page actually needs… It’s great.
