Watched Blade Runner over the weekend. In spite of some of the more gratuitous moments of the film (which are now fast-forwardable), I’d like to see it again, now that I somewhat understand what’s going on. Watching a movie you don’t understand very readily is like trying to play catch-up, piecing events and dialogue together from the beginning whilst trying to absorb the finale. But movies like that are the best ones anyway. The Usual Suspects, for example.
This past weekend was great fun. D.C. was a blast, even though I spent way too much money (unforseen expenses :o) Elyse’s hospitality was magnanimous. Going to bed early tonight. Right… Like that ever happens :o)

eek, I wouldn’t want to keep one, its kinda like going to a pet store, they all look so cute, and loving and adorable, but then you buy one, bring it home, and it pees all over the bathroom floor and keeps you awake at night and demands to be fed and entertained all the time, and so on and so forth…
and then there’s that whole flea thing, not really worth the effort, eh?

Blade Runner is probably my favorite film, and in my opinion, one of the best of all time. I hope you caught the Director’s Cut, as the regular version doesn’t do the movie justice. The voice-over narration by Deckard, the more graphic death of Tyrell, the omission of a crucial scene at the end, and the inclusion of a “happy ending” bring the regular version down. Regardless of the version, there is a lot to take in, and it’s extremely difficult to “get” this movie on the first viewing.
I am going to add you to my friends list…anyone who lists Alan Keyes as an interest is worth adding.
I unfortunately didn’t get the chance to see the director’s cut, but I did note that the voice-over narration gave the film a second-rate detective tone that didn’t mesh at all the rest of the elements. I also thought Tyrell’s death was extremely gratuitous, so I’ll definetely make it a point to see the version you recommend.
