This is a subject line in search of a post. I’ve had that song bouncing around in my head all morning and the act of writing it down is an attempt to exorcise it from upstairs. But of course that never works.
Just the facts, then:
- The church group is planning a vacation to Charleston at the beginning of April, renting a house for a couple of days. I may do this.
- I’ve been addicted to Panera lately. It’s good but not good (to my wallet). I don’t know of many places where I can have a healthy, square meal and end up just feeling good about it all afternoon, though. Clearly I have more research to do.
- The common server and e-mail systems here at work are beyond slow and beyond flaky. I hate Windows.
- Had a stellar lunch with Larry at Qdoba on Saturday. We talked about everything from the current direction of the church group to mastering forward slips for landing the airplane to desirable qualities in a future spouse, and so on.
- David “treated” me to some brandy from his stash on Saturday night. I only had a few sips and didn’t much care for it.
- I let Jeff borrow my copy of Adiemus’ Song of Sanctuary last week. By his own admission he’s been listening to it nearly nonstop.

– Church vacation sounds cool. We’re going to West VA to ski this spring break, I believe (March 13-17).
– Panera is good, but try Atlanta Bread Co or Crispers. Same “fast casual” deal. Or Subway always works, too.

– No, I’m a Mac guy. Which I suppose makes me a Unix guy by virtue of the fact that OS X architecture is based on a Unix foundation, but that’s a whole other ball of wax.

I’ll bet Philly has some excellent “independent” places to eat, though. I’d gladly trade you for the variety.

My best friend is organizing a contingent for a weekend ski trip (evidently the rates go down after March 5). Nothing’s definite at this point but I’m very intent on visiting Snowshoe at least once this season. I went last year and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Have you tried their Chicken Olivada sandwich? It’s totally mixing food genres, but it is positively EXCELLENT with their fiesta con queso soup and a portion of a wheat baguette! I’m totally hoping that’s Sunday’s lunch destination… If it’s not, I may be swinging by there and taking it wherever the group ends up going!
I haven’t tried that sandwich yet–it sounds yummy though. I usually get the “you pick two” deal with half a Frontega Chicken sandwich, a bowl of chicken noodle soup and a hunk of French baguette. But I shall try your combo :)
You can do the “pick two” with this sandwich as well… but there’s an extra charge for halving the Olivada… It works out for the better, if you have someone else who wants half, to get the whole sandwich and two bowls of soup.
The Frontega Chicken sandwich is good as well though, and I can imagine it pairing adequately with their chicken noodle. Very nice.
