coffee & tv
David and Don have been moved in since late Tuesday night. David’s sleeping in my room until Don moves out in six weeks and vacates his room. I’m giving David free rent until then to compensate (though he still has to pay 1/4 utilities). He’s fairly well-situated, but I still feel bad when I wake up early in the morning for a flight and am trying to make as little noise as possible walking across the hardwood floor.
Coffee Theology on Wednesday went reasonably well. Larry attended for the first time and he and I discussed it at length last night during our weekly get-together. He gave me good feedback about it. I greatly appreciate his impressions and advice. I so want this group to succeed, and I expressed that, but we agreed that first of all I have to determine what success is, to sharpen my vision for the group, in other words. We discussed some ideas that I’ll be implementing in the coming weeks.
The front pulley lock tool for the Audi finally came in yesterday. If the ground is dry tomorrow the car’s getting a full tuneup. I have distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs, fresh oil and filter along with a new front main seal. I’m not sure if the seal is the cause of my perennial oil leakage, but between that and a new oil pump gasket I figure I stand a good chance of taking care of it. I just hope I don’t have to drop the engine subframe just to pull off the oil pump. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
Here’s an interesting post-mortem by Slate about the recently canceled NBC show Book of Daniel.

Fingers crossed, although I’m not quite sure I understand why ;)
Glad to hear the Coffee Theology group is going well.
I have a pretty nifty air mattress if you think it’ll help the three weeks go by faster and more comfortably. It blows up in 3.4 seconds and everything! : )
I’m excited to see your sharper vision for the group played out, whatever it may be! (I’m sure staying more focused on topic will be part of it, so I’ll do my best to not hinder that!!)
I’m not sure if I’d count auto mechanics as “celebrating” but you’re more into cars than me; I just think they’re pretty and like it when they go fast!
Hehe, it would prove handy while driving in DC or Atlanta to have a “pop-in Jesus”… even if He didn’t speak He’d at least keep me from getting a ticket! Though I’d imagine He’d frequently cast disapproving glances at my speedometer!
Thanks Erica :)
3.4 seconds? Are you sure you don’t have an “emergency flotation device” from an airliner instead of a mattress? :) I have a futon, so between that and my air mattress I think he’s set. Thanks though.
Working on the car tomorrow isn’t “celebrating” per se, but I do enjoy it, it’s needed and anyway it won’t take all day (hopefully). So there’ll be space for relaxation.
Happy Friday!
No! It’s not an “’emergency flotation device’ from an airliner,” it’s an Aerobed… and they always advertise that it can be blown up in some crazy fast time… I don’t necessarily remember exactly what it is… but it’s fast! But for making fun of it, I retract the offer! : P
they canceled BofD? that’s sad. i thought it was funny.
