fire & rain
I actually called in sick to work today. First time I’ve done that in, well…forever. I’ve gone home early; I’ve come in late, but I’ve never called off a day entire.
So I’m feeling pretty bad. Congested, cold, loss of appetite–the whole nine yards. My parents are gone to the mountains for the weekend and I’m holding down the fort alone. I plan to veg out and convalesce. I went out earlier in the 96 degree heat, just in the interest of getting out of the house, and it about did me in. I did rent a couple of movies, though: Jeux D’Enfants, this nice-looking French film, and The Aviator, which I hadn’t seen before but watched first. Bad idea. My mind is in a muggy state, being half-congested, and Scorsese paints such a convincing portrait of a Hughes as a germophobic, eccentric recluse that I felt myself getting drawn into the characterization, all vegged-out on the couch by myself watching the screen. Very surreal. I’m not germophobic, but I might consider myself at least slightly eccentric, certainly a “recluse” tonight (though not of my own volition), and I most definitely have a passion for aircraft, so…it was a little much, the movie. I need to read a book or watch something upbeat to take the edge off. I made myself eat some leftovers earlier, so at least I’m good on that front. I’m going to go lie down again.

I hope you get to feeling better, M. You’re in my prayers.
Thank you, Em. I think I’m on the way up?
Have a great time in Houston :)
FEEL BETTER! :)
