i can sing a rainbow too
Luke sang his first full, real song yesterday. He was remarkably chipper all day and had a great time at his grandparents house while Diane and I had our weekly date night. During our drive to visit and retrieve him, we received a phone call and heard Luke singing his rainbow song quite clearly. When we arrived, we all sang it together around the dinner table. I was laughing and Diane was crying a little bit, it was so cute. Luke was hesitant and looked around to make sure everybody in the room was singing, but didn’t display the recalcitrance he usually does when called upon to “perform.” He takes very calculated “risks” in the arena of public performance and is still working out for himself when certain things are approved and when they aren’t. Maybe it’s a firstborn thing? I couldn’t help wondering if he had siblings to look to whether he wouldn’t be less gunshy. I suppose we’ll find out when our second is born. And besides, there are plenty of firstborns out there who are relatively fearless. How big a role does birth order play in determining our traits?
