Well, it’s busted. My finger, that is. In medical terms, I have a fracture of the articular surface of my left pinkie, which means I broke the bone right down at the joint. My hand and wrist are all wrapped up in a cast, and I go back on Friday to have an occupational doctor fit me with something a bit less obtrusive. Regardless, no car work for me for a good while (unless it’s a task I can accomplish entirely with my right hand, like changing oil). Setting the bone was fun–they didn’t have to do that when I broke my left wrist about 15 years ago. The actual pulling of the finger and crunching the bone back into position wasn’t so bad,but the application of the local anesthetic required to numb up the region in question was interesting. Nothing quite like the feeling of having fluid inserted underneath one’s skin…<\/p>\n
I think I’m getting sick, too. I don’t think I’ve been sick since… Fall ’03? So I’m overdue. Fortunately it’s not too bad–just a sore throat and general fatigue so far, and it’s unlikely to get worse (knock on wood).<\/p>\n
The good news about yesterday is that I bought Loveless<\/i> by My Bloody Valentine and it’s a thing of beauty. It’s vibrant, radiant, so alive, and the sound has the level of production I’ve been missing for years from the rock I listen to.<\/p>\n
