Bands nowadays are so <i>earnest<\/i>, so <i>linear<\/i>&#8230;  There are few lyrical ambiguities, no complex backstory for songs seemingly built of fragments and pieces that become more than the sum of their parts, no more secrets to feel cool for being in on&#8230;  Among other things.
