I was a little discouraged most of the weekend about the situation with Sarah. I had IMed her on Thursday, trying to strike up a bit of a conversation, but she excused herself after a minute or two for a telephone conversation and never got back to me. My only consolation was that before she left, she had mentioned that she was going to be out of town over the weekend, so her absence was explained by some other reason than just the desire to avoid me.<\/p>\n
She returned yesterday, though, and after leaving a question about the quote on her away message (to provide an “in” for conversation), and asking if I could call her and ask if she’d like to get a bite to eat or coffee this week, this was her reply (I was away):<\/p>\n

I could’ve probably just set up a time over IM, but I thought it would be better for her to actually hear a real, live voice on the other end of the line, hence the initial query about calling her.<\/p>\n
Needless to say, I was amazed.
