1. My office computer is on the fritz. Has been since yesterday. I’m still at the office, but typing on the machine we use for all our utility stuff like scanning, cd burning, etc. Quark won’t open on this computer and I can’t get files and notes off my office computer to do some work that I could<\/i> be doing, but isn’t imperative, so…I’m basically useless today. I did stop by Lowes and pick up some drywall screw anchors so I could fix the shelves in my office that have literally fallen off the wall. But that’s done now, so…short day, methinks.<\/p>\n
2. The likelihood that I will consider a girl a possibility for a relationship is inversely proportional to the perceived likelihood that she will collect Precious Moments\u2122 paraphernalia later in life (or heaven forbid, does now).<\/p>\n
3. It’s incredibly nice to be driving my<\/i> car again. Monday morning I dropped John and Kristi off at the airport for their trip to St. Thomas for New Year’s and drove their Nissan XTerra (SUV) around for the rest of the day. My Audi needed a headlight switch (being a German car, it was $50) and while I was waiting for it to come in I drove the XTerra around. It’s a stickshift and it has a cd player, so things weren’t all bad, but it just feels so…tipsy, rubbery, over-isolated, disconnected, as opposed to the linear, stable, precise feel the Audi has down closer to the road. Not to mention the fact that I saw more than one identical green XTerra driving around. That’s a weird feeling–I’m not used to seeing similar cars on the road.<\/p>\n
4. I bought Blade Runner<\/i> on DVD a couple of days ago (the director’s cut, of course). I watched about half of it last night. There are very few more visually poetic movies. And there are still lots of things that I don’t understand, lots of symbolism I don’t quite get, even if I can grasp some of the overarching themes of the film as a whole. But I like that I don’t understand all of it. It doesn’t need to be understood to be beautiful. Of course it doesn’t keep me from wanting<\/i> to understand, but…sometimes the process is more rich and meaningful than the end realization.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
