“a paroxysm of glee”
\n“d\u00e9sormais”
\n“maintenant” (mainly because of its contrast with its English equivalent, “now.” I’m just amused that an ungainly three-syllable word is used to describe such an ephemeral moment in time)
\n“dor\u00e9navant” (rhythmic and fun to say)
\n“shortchange the psyche”
\n“toaster”
\nand the ever-popular “prolific,” possibly the most aesthetically-pleasing word in the English language.<\/p>\n
I like “Vertigo.” I need to listen to the lyrics more closely, I think–my repeated listens last night mainly centered around absorbing the vibe and the feel of the music and trying to trace a musical progression from their previous album. For what it’s worth, upon first listens to older U2 songs, the lyrics and music immediately held equal footing in my mind–this one not so much. The music is excellent, but the words don’t jump out at me and complete the song; I felt, at least initially, like I was nodding my head to an empty rhythm and hook. We shall see.<\/p>\n
I beat my goal last night: 3.5 miles in 26:10, or 5 seconds (overall) better than a 7:30\/mi pace. The night was ideal–cool and temperate.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
