All the middle school guys are over here at the moment… Donald’s their small group leader in youth group and I think he wanted to get together with them before the beginning of official youth group weekly meetings this coming Saturday. Fortunately we’ve upped the multimedia capacity of the apartment to Level 3 (similar to the DEFCON system) with the addition of an XBox to Donald’s mini TV, supplementing the PS2 and assorted computers, and with the purchase (by myself) of more cream soda and root beer, they’re quite occupied and happy.<\/p>\n
I wouldn’t mind at all except that I’m getting sick and just want a quiet Sunday evening. I went to Borders for a little bit, got a hot chocolate, and read some magazines, then went to Barnes & Noble and almost bought the Daft Punk cd I’ve had my eye on…but it was $18, so I decided to wait on it…<\/p>\n
So I bought a book of Rilke poetry instead. Funny thing, shopping for some poetry in a store like that. It’s not easy (for me, at least), since I really feel like poems have to be read aloud to gather their full effect… I think I’ve put off more than one bookstore shopper after coming around the corner of the aisle and stumbling upon me mumbling to myself, book in hand. But that’s what it takes…<\/p>\n
Donald got the transmission back in his Bimmer yesterday, with some assistance from me at crucial stages like actually lifting the tranny into the tunnel, and inserting the last of the bellhousing bolts. I was impressed with his diligence in the matter–he started around 11 and had all the grunt work done and the car down off the jackstands at 7. It’s quite a good time considering everything he had to reconnect. It won’t start, though, so I’ve got to go out there tomorrow and diagnose things–it’s likely just a sensor or connector issue. That’s what all the symptoms point to.<\/p>\n
