Big summer raindrops are falling, darkening the concrete driveway outside my window little by little… Fortunately the car’s just outside so I was able to verify that the window is indeed rolled up. I was anti-A\/C before, but after having been in Europe for a couple of weeks, where the weather was unbelievably clement the whole time, my penchant for having the window down is now solidified with a couple of weeks of practice.<\/p>\n
The rain’s falling more steadily now–we’ll be under the tail end of the cloud soon, I imagine. Part of me wishes very much that it would just rain for a few days nonstop, or close to it. I have a lot of things to process, to think about, and whenever I’m assailed with thoughts to this degree my instincts run towards contemplation inside… But another part of me just wants to tell stories, to work through things with a listening, non-evaluative ear. It’s a dichotomy of desires for interaction that’s rarely resolved.<\/p>\n
Last night I watched some of Donald’s 4-odd hours of video footage from the trip. His digital video camera was plugged into the TV via RCA cables, but I had to watch the small screen on the camera–the jostling movement of the image on the larger TV screen was making me a bit queasy. I watched some of our initial arrival in London, some of Paris (walking around the Notre Dame, etc), and Monaco too… He fell into the habit of turning the camera on me whenever it was switched on and having me give regular “updates,” all of which, in retrospect, sound completely asinine, but… It’s what we have. The issue now is whittling 4 hours of raw footage down into 15-20 minutes for a little recap video. Gonna be hard, but Donald’s a real pro. Some possible soundtrack songs:<\/p>\n
