For those of you snickering under your breath, consider: A month ago I couldn’t do it in 27 minutes. So, the next goal is sub-23, and so on and so forth. Feelin’ fine.

Great ski trip this weekend, even though sleep on the bus was well-nigh impossible due to the eat-your-knees seating arrangements. In any case, I had a wonderful time talking with Jenn and Donald. Saturday morning poured down rain until about 11, but we were at the slopes around 9:30 anyway, braving the wetness, especially at the higher elevations, until things cleared up. After that conditions were great and there weren’t even that many people on account of the poor weather in the morning. Couldn’t have asked for a better afternoon. Well, if I hadn’t wiped out big on the Turkey Chute (an absolutely evil black diamond), things would have been better, but at least I can say I made it down without injury. The slope was absolutely covered with moguls, not to mention narrow, and pitched at close to a 45-degree angle… The worst part was the top, where navigating the moguls was closer to jumping between rooftops of houses than actual skiing. The tuneup performed on my skis last week made a huge difference as well, as the skis actually cut through the inconsistencies in the snow to a certain extent, rather than wandering and pulling with every little nuance.

I had a great time. Hung out with Donald on Sunday night after we returned. It was fun just to hang out and shoot comments at the tv… No work, no agenda, just complete, utter vegetation. I don’t think we’d had that in a while, if ever… We always had some business or something or other to discuss, but last night was just fun. I’m really looking forward to the Boston trip.

you miss too much these days if you stop to think… Matt is back. 3 miles in 23:45.
