Earlier in the month, P deliberately chose not to recognize D’s birthday, so I suppose she felt compelled to treat mine similarly, which is fine, really; it’s just another day to me, and L’s acknowledgement was a pleasant surprise.

The winter session of the theology class at the Anglican church downtown starts tomorrow. I’m very much looking forward to it, but the assigned book gave me pause, since its author is Richard Hays, a New Testament scholar who, near the very end of his life, after having held conservative biblical values up until that point, collaborated with his son Christopher on another book advocating for full acceptance and inclusion of practicing homosexuals in church communities. It’s a book, furthermore, that I was gifted and have on my bookshelf downstairs, yet to be read—though I intend to. I don’t know the Anglican church’s actual position on the issue, but believe they lean more conservative; still, I’d like invite Sam, one of the instructors, out to lunch to pick his brain on the issue, and Hays’ trajectory. I like Sam a lot and I’m sure he would address things in a sensitive, winsome way. I’m hungry for insights from anyone and everyone who’s thoughtfully and prayerfully considered the matter.

now the years are rolling by me—they are rockin’ evenly.i am older than i once was,and younger than i’ll be.that’s not unusual 47.
